SAE 712.0 Heat Treatments
- Temper T5
Sand Castings
Precipitation Heat Treated at 157 ± 6°C (315 ± 10°F), 6-8 hours.
May be held at room temperature for 21 days in lieu of precipitation heat treatment. - Solution heat treatment shall be at the temperature: 532°C (990°F), minimum soak time is 2 hours and Quenched;
Temper after Solution treatment shall be T4 and delay at room temperature.
Aging (precipitation heat treatment):
Condition before Aging F (as cast);
Aging at RT°C (RT°F), soak time is 21 days minimum;
Temper T5 after Aging.
Aging (precipitation heat treatment):
Condition before Aging F (as cast);
Aging at 179°C (355°F), soak time is 9-11 hours;
Temper T5 after Aging.
