AA 771.0 Heat Treatments
- Cooled from an elevated temperature shaping process and then artificially aged (T5): Aging treatment: At 179.4°C (± 5.56°C) / 355°F (± 10°F) for 3 - 5 hours; cool in still air outside furnace to room temperature.
T51: Aging treatment: At 207.2°C (± 5.56°C) / 405°F (± 10°F) for 6 hours.
T52: Aging treatment: At 165.5°C (± 5.56°C) / 330°F (± 10°F) for 6 - 12 hours; cool in still air outside furnace to room temperature; Stress relieve for dimensional stability in following manner: Hold at 412.7°C (± 13.9°C) / 775 (± 25°F) for 5 hours, then furnace cool to 343.3°C (650°F) for 2 or more hours, then furnace cool to 232.2°C (450°F) for not more than 0.5 hours, then furnace cool to 121°C (250°F) for approximately 2 hours, then cool to room temperature in still air outside the furnace.
T53: Aging treatment: At 182.2°C (± 5.56°C) / 360°F (± 10°F) for 4 hours; cool in still air outside furnace to room temperature; Stress relieve for dimensional stability in following manner: Hold at 412.7°C (± 13.9°C) / 775 (± 25°F) for 5 hours, then furnace cool to 343.3°C (650°F) for 2 or more hours, then furnace cool to 232.2°C (450°F) for not more than 0.5 hours, then furnace cool to 121°C (250°F) for approximately 2 hours, then cool to room temperature in still air outside the furnace.
Solution heat treated and artificially aged (T6): Solution heat treated at 587.7°C (± 5.56°C) / 1090°F (± 10°F)/6 hours; cool in still air outside furnace to room temperature.
Aging treatment: At 129.4°C (± 5.56°C) / 265°F (± 10°F) for 3 hours.
T71: Solution heat treated at 587.7°C (± 5.56°C) / 1090°F (± 10°F)/6 hours; cool in still air outside furnace to room temperature.
Aging treatment: At 140.5°C (± 5.56°C) / 285°F (± 10°F) for 15 hours. - Temper T51: Age by holding at 385°C for 6 hours followed by cooling in still air.
