DIN 1.4990 Heat Treatments
- The solution annealing of the finished tube is performed between 1180°C and 1250°C (temperature of the annealing material), sufficiently rapid cooling in water, air or shielding gas.
The material can be cold and hot formed.
Hot forming: After hot forming, solution annealing is needed, if the hot forming has not been performed at controlled temperatures between 1180°C and 1250°C.
Cold forming: Cold-formed tubes must be solution annealed again if they are formed > 20% or have an R/D ratio of ≤ 2,5 when used in the creep range. For reasons related to corrosion it is recommended that repeat solution annealing should be performed, even with lower rates of forming.
