DTD 5222 Heat Treatments
- Annealing: Heat for not less than 1 hour at a temperature between 820°C and 880°C and cool at a rate not exceeding 25°C per hour down to below 540°C and then cool to room temperature.
Hardening: Heat at a temperature of 1050°C ± 10°C for not less than 15 minutes, or 15 minutes for each 25 mm of section, whichever is the greater, and cool in air.
Tempering: Heat at a temperature of 525°C ± 10°C for not less than 2 hours and cool in air, then re-heat at a temperature of 575°C ± 10°C for not less than 6 hours and cool in air.
