ASTM A 643 Grade C Class 3 Heat Treatments
- Castings shall be heated to a temperature that produces an austenitic structure and then air cooled (normalized) or fan cooled or liquid quenched to assure complete transformation. This operation shall be followed by tempering at a subcritical temperature and holding at this temperature for a minimum time of 0.5 h/25 mm of maximum section thickness. Minimum tempering temperature shall be 620°C (1150°F).
