PROPRIETARY HG 3505 Heat Treatments
- Forging:
Preheat carefully, then raise temperature to 920-1200°C for forging. Do not forge below 950°C.
Soft Annealing:
Heat to 760-800°C, cool slowly in furnace.
Stress Relieving:
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to 650°C, holding for one hour at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
Hardening:
Harden from a temperature of 830-870°C followed by oil quenching.
Tempering
Tempering between 150-180°C is not advised as tempering within this range will seriously reduce the impact value.
