PROPRIETARY HG 2842 Heat Treatments
- Forging:
Heat slowly and begin forging at 850-1050°C, after forging cool slowly preferably in a furnace.
Soft Annealing:
Heat the tool steel slowly to 680-720°C, cool slowly in furnace.
Stress Relieving:
Heat up to 650°C, cooling in furnace.
Hardening:
Harden from a temperature of 790-820°C followed by oil, Lwarm bath (180-220°C) quenching.
Tempering:
Tempering is always necessary after hardening. Soak well at the selected temperature and soak for at least one hour per 25mm of total thickness.
