PROPRIETARY CarTech 430 Stainless Heat Treatments
- Annealing: Heat uniformly 760/816°C (1400/1500°F). Remove charge from the furnace and cool in air. When stampings and deep-drawn parts must be annealed in process, use same treatment as for full annealing. The annealing scale should be removed after each treatment. This can be done by pickling in 50% hydrochloric acid heated to 60/65ºC (140/150ºF). Wash and passivate.
Hardening:
430 is not hardenable by heat treatment. However, its hardness can be moderately increased by cold work. Hardness up to about Rockwell C 25 can be obtained in sections of about 12.7 mm (0.5 in) or under.
