PROPRIETARY RWL 34 Heat Treatments
- Because of the risk of cracking; no grinding, cutting or machining should be done after hot working until the material is annealed. The recommendation is to have the material fully transformation annealed which means one hour at 900°C, then cool to 750°C during one hour and finally hold at 750°C for four hours. Hardened and tempered (I): Hardened at 1050°C, Tempered at 220°C, 2h; Hardened and tempered (II): Hardened at 1050°C, Tempered at 175°C, 2h; Hardened and tempered (III): Hardened at 1080°C, Tempered at 220°C, 2h; Hardened and tempered (IV): Hardened at 1080°C, Tempered at 175°C, 2h, includes deep freezing (DF) at -80°C for 15 minutes; Hardened and tempered (V): Hardened at 1100°C, Tempered at 175°C, 2h, includes deep freezing (DF) at -80°C for 15 minutes.
