NMX B-082 M3 Class 2 Heat Treatments
- Preheating temperature at 730 to 840°C;
Austenization temperature in salt bath at 1205°C or in controlled atmosphere oven at 1215°C, one minute for each millimeter of thickness. Cooling medium in air, oil or molten salts. The temperature limit must be ± 5°C. If the sample is austenised in salts, it must be immersed in the salt bath for at least 5 minutes. If it is austenized in a controlled atmosphere oven, the sample should remain at the austenization temperature for 5 to 15 minutes.
Tempered temperature at 550°C, The annealing at 550°C is in two cycles of 2h each, with intermediate cooling at room temperature. The tempering at 540°C is in three cycles of 2h each, with cooling to room temperature. Two temperings are recommended, for a minimum of two hours, for every 25mm of section, at the same temperature. .
