PROPRIETARY PMHS 6-5-3C Heat Treatments
- Hot-forming: 1170 - 1010°C. Stress-relieving after machining and before quenching: 640 - 700°C, furnace cooling to 480°C, then air. Pre-heating: 500°C pause, then 850°C, pause. Quenching (+Q): heatings must be carried out in controlled atmosphere furnace 1050 - 1180°C, salt bath 550°C, inert gas, forced air. 1° Tempering (+T): immediately after quenching 560°C, calm air. 2° - 3° Tempering (+T): 550 - 560°C, calm air. Soft annealing (+A): 850 - 880°C cooling 10°C/h to 680°C then air. All high-speed steels must be annealed after hot-forming.
