PROPRIETARY 36SMn14 Heat Treatments
- Hot-forming at 1250 to 950°C.
Soft annealing at 680°C, air.
Carburizing at 850 to 900°C.
Hardening on carburized surface, 770 to 810°C, water/oil/salt bath.
Stress-relieving at 180 to 200°C.
Normalizing at 900°C, air.
Direct hardening at 880°C, water or 890°C oil or polymer.
Stress relieving at 150 to 200°C, furnace cooling.
Mechanical and elevated temperature properties for rounds are quenched at 850°C in water. HRC hardness after quenching at 845°C in oil.
