PROPRIETARY CHRONIFER Labor 17% Heat Treatments
- Forming. Warm: forging: 1150 – 950°C (pre-heating at 1150 – 1230°C); Not recommended below 930°C. Annealing. Soft anneal: 800 – 820°C, UTS = 730 MPa, A5 = 15%; Because of the danger of carbide formation the annealing temperature should not exceed 825°C. Stress relieving anneal (sub-critical): 650 – 760°C, air cooling. Quenching. Primary quenching: 950 – 1050°C, oil quenching. Option: secondary quenching by sub-zero cooling -20 or down to -80°C/12 – 48h, preferably -80°C/12 – 24h or by cooling to cryo-temperature -196°C/12 – 24h: low cooling rate to avoid thermal cracking. Tempering. Tempering according to one’s need. Because of a potential cracking risk the domain 400 – 580°C should be avoided.
