PROPRIETARY Permodur 4828 Heat Treatments
- Optimal material properties are realised after solution annealing in the temperature range 1050-1150°C followed by rapid cooling in air or water. During operation and fabrication, the time spent in the temperature range 550-900°C must be minimised to avoid embrittlement, both chromium carbide precipitation and sigma phase formation. This embrittlement effect can be reversed by solution annealing the steel at a temperature in the range 1050-1100°C.
