PROPRIETARY Electrodur 4005 Heat Treatments

  • Usually delivered in the annealed condition. This condition is obtained by heating in the temperature range 745-825°C, followed by slow cooling in a furnace; Also, it may be heat treated by hardening in air or oil after holding at a temperature between 950-1000°C. Although a range of mechanical properties may be obtained by tempering at different temperatures, the QT 650 condition is usually specified and may be obtained by tempering in the temperature range 680-780°C; Also, the material must be heated slowly to temperatures of approx. 800°C, then faster to 1150°C - 1180°C. The forging takes place between 1180°C and 1000°C. A subsequent slow cooling in the oven or in dry ashes or the like materials that ensure slow cooling.
