PROPRIETARY CarTech 430F Solenoid Heat Treatments


  • Annealing:
    Annealing for Magnetic Properties:
    Anneal at 788/843°C (1450/1550°F) for 2 hours, then cool at a rate of 56°C (100°F) per hour to 427°C (800°F). Dry hydrogen or vacuum atmosphere is suggested to prevent oxidation. Annealing to Soften:
    Heat uniformly to 677/760°C (1250/1400°F), then cool in air.
    Brinell hardness will be approximately 170.
    Hardening:
    Not respond significantly to hardening by heat treatment. Heating to a temperature above 927°C (1700°F) and cooling at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster will increase hardness to Rockwell B 95/C 22 and will impart less magnetically soft properties than the unannealed product.
