VdTÜV P420NH Heat Treatments
- Quenching and tempering:
Hardening at 860-940°C, after reaching the temperature in the entire cross-section quenched in water, oil or cooling in air.
Tempering at 560-700°C, heat duration according to DIN EN ISO 4885 min. 30 min, cooling in still air.
Normalizing at 880-960°C, after reaching the temperature in the entire cross-section cooling in still air.
Heat treatment after welding:
Stress relief annealing at 530-580°C. Cooling in still air or in the furnace. The duration required for the specified annealing temperatures includes heating through and holding within the temperature range and depends on the thickness of the components. When measuring the annealing temperature at the component surface, the following guide values are recommended for this depending on the thickness:
≤ 15 mm at least 15 min
> 15 mm ≤ 30 mm at least 30 min
> 30 mm ≤ 350 mm at least 60 min
> 350 mm about 120 min
The maximum heat duration according to DIN EN ISO 4885 for the usual stress-relief annealing is 150 min. For a heat duration > 90 min or for multiple annealing, the lower limit of the temperature range should be aimed for.
