ASTM A 683 64S230 Heat Treatments
- The specimen strips to be tested shall be given a controlled quality evaluation anneal in a decarburizing atmosphere. The anneal shall be made under conditions which ensure that the specimen strips reach a temperature of 843°C (1550°F) except that the temperature shall be 788°C (1450°F) for alloy contents less than 1.3 % silicon plus aluminum, for approximately 1 h and with conditions favorable to decarburization.
