CSN 16 523 Heat Treatments
- Forging at 1100 to 850°C, forging cooling slowly;
Soft annealing at 610 to 630°C, cooling in furnace;
Case-hardening in powder at 860 to 880°C;
Case-hardening in gas at 890 to 910°C;
Case-hardening in bath at 860 to 890°C;
First hardening at 860 to 890°C, cooling in oil or oil, for thick parts water;
Intermediate annealing at 620 to 640°C. Intermediate annealing is not always necessary if the parts are not settled. In the case of annealing in a box furnace it is imperative to get rid of cemented components in the bath of cyanide, in salt bath or in boxes in a box furnace to cooling slowly;
Second hardening at 770 at 880°C, cooling in oil;
Simple hardening at 790 to 810°C, cooling in oil;.
Tempering at 160 to 200°C, about an hour.
