PROPRIETARY 50NILYW Heat Treatments


  • Annealed: Heated to 830°C; Slowly cooled.
    Quenched and tempered: Oil quenched from 1095°C; Sub-zero treated (-70/-80°C); Tempered at 550°C (Properties beneath the carburized layer).
    Carburized: 950°C approx.
    Hardened: Heated to 1050/1100°C; Gas, oil or salt bath quenched.
    Tempered: After carburizing and hardening the steel is tempered between 520°C and 550°C as required.
