ASME SA-487 Grade 2Q Heat Treatments
- Castings shall be heat treated as follows: Austenitized at 870°C, liquid quenched to below 260°C and tempered at 595°C minimum. Preliminary heat treatment prior to final heat treatment as well as multiple tempering is permitted. Heat treatment shall be performed after the castings have been allowed to cool below the transformation range. If castings are welded, they shall be post welded heat treated at a temperature of 595°C minimum, (the post weld heat treatment temperature must be at or below the final tempering temperature), or re-heat treated as detailed above. The minimum pre-heat temperature prior to welding shall be 95°C.
