PROPRIETARY ATI 201HP Heat Treatments
- Annealed between 1010-1093°C (1850-2000°F). Rapid cooling through the carbide precipitation range is necessary to keep carbides in solution. For thin sections, air cooling is usually sufficient, while heavier sections should be water quenched. If the work can be cooled to “black” within 3 minutes by air cooling, this practice is preferred.
When properly annealed grade is predominantly austenitic. However it may contain small amounts of delta ferrite. Exposure to the temperature range 427-816°C (800-1500°F) results in grain boundary carbide precipitation.
Hot working in range 1150-1230°C (2100-2250°F).
