SAE HSL180 Heat Treatments
- Austenitizing by heating to 1085°C ± 14°C (1985°F ± 25°F), holding at heat for not less than 1 hour, quenching in oil not hotter than 60°C (140°F), cooling to -73°C ± 11°C (-100°F ± 20°F) for not less than 2 hours, tempering twice at 385°C ± 6°C (725°F ± 10°F) for 2 hours, and cooling to room temperature.
