SAE HS 556 Heat Treatments
- Solution heat treated by heating at 1149 to 1218°C (2100 to 2225°F), held at the selected temperature within ± 14°C (± 25°F) for a time commensurate with section thickness but not more than 30 minutes and cooled rapidly.
- Solution heat treated by heating to 1149-1218°C (2100-2225°F), held at the selected temperature within ± 14°C (± 25°F) for a time commensurate with cross-sectional thickness but not less than 20 minutes, and quenched in water.
