PROPRIETARY SMI Heat Treatments
- Annealed: Heated to 675°C, slow cooled. Hardened: Preheated to 700°C; Heated to 850°C; Air cooled or gas pressure quenched. For large parts, air cooling may be replaced by salt bath at 220°C, followed by air cooling. Heating in an inert atmosphere is recommended; Tempered at 200°C depending on properties required.
