PROPRIETARY 819AW Heat Treatments


  • Annealed condition: Heat to 680°C followed by slow cooling.
    Sub-zero cooled, tempered: Air cool from 875°C. Sub-zero treatment (-75°C). Temper at 200°C.
    Tempered: Air cool from 875°C. Temper at 650°C. Air cool from 875°C. Temper at 650°C.
    Harden: Heat to 875°C; Air cool or gas pressure.
    Temper: Depending on properties required.

    Forged: 1100/900°C.
  • Quenching:
    - preheating to 650°C,
    - heating to 875°C,
    - quenching in hot oil, or in salt baths, or under gas pressure.
    - Cold treatment at -76°C(recommended).
    Tempering: From 120°C depending on the hardness required.

    Quenched and tempered (I): air quenching at 875°C + tempering 200°C
    Quenched and tempered (II):air quenching at 875°C + tempering 650°C

    Annealing: 680°C followed by a very slow cooling.
