ASTM A 565 S42226 Heat Treatments
- HT - Heat treated (for high-temperature service): 1095 to 1150°C (2000 to 2500°F), quench in rapid air, oil, or polymer and temper at 640°C (1185°F) min.
Air or oil quenching depends on section size; heavier sections, approximately 76.2 mm or greater, should be oil quenched. Suitable synthetic quenchants may be substituted for oil.
