ASTM A 541 Class 7B Heat Treatments


  • After complete austenitization, the forgings shall be quenched in a suitable liquid medium by spraying or immersion. Quenching shall be followed by tempering at a subcritical temperature and holding at this temperature for a minimum time of 0.5 h/25 mm of maximum section thickness. Minimum tempering temperatures shall be 605°C (1125°F).
