ASTM A 240 S31041 Heat Treatments
- Cold worked: heat to 1095°C (2000°F) minimum, quenched in water or rapidly cooled by other means; Hot finished: heat to 1050°C (1925°F) minimum, quenched in water or rapidly cooled by other means (acc. to ASTM A480/A480M).
For grades stabilized with titanium or niobium, solution-annealing temperatures above 1066°C (1950°F) can impair the resistance to intergranular corrosion after subsequent exposure to sensitizing conditions in the stabilized grades.
