JIS 20CrS4 Heat Treatments


  • Carburizing: 880-980°C; Hardening: 820-860°C; Double hardening: 860-900°C (Core hardening) and 780-820°C (Case hardening); Tempering: 150-200°C (min. 1 hour). End quench test austenitizing temperature 900±5°C.
  • G+M - ground and treated to improve machinability G+TA - ground and annealed to maximum hardness requirements M+TC - treated to improve machinability and cold drawn P+TA - peeled and annealed to maximum hardness requirements P+M - peeled and treated to improve machinability TC+M - cold drawn and treated to improve machinability TC+TA - cold drawn and annealed to maximum hardness requirements. Carburizing: 880-980°C; Hardening: 820-860°C; Double hardening: 860-900°C and 780-820°C; Tempering: 150-200°C (min. 1 hour).
