DIN 1.7386 + NT Heat Treatments
- Quenching and tempering: Hardened at 960-1000°C, cooled in air, quenched in oil or water.
Tempering: Heated at 730-780°C, held for min. 60 minutes.
Normalizing and tempering: Heated at 890-950°C, air cooled. Tempered at 720-800°C. br />
Material can be hot and cold formed. Hot forming should be carried out at 1100-850°C. Forming operations such as forging and upsetting are carried out between 1100°C and 950°C. - Normalizing and tempering (+NT): 890-950°C, air cooling. Tempering: 720-800°C, air cooling. It may be necessary in the case of wall thickness T above 10 mm or T/D > 0.15 to apply quenching and tempering in order to achieve the intended structure and material properties.
