MIL Chrome-Moly-Vanadium Heat Treatments
- Austenitizing temperature: 1600 ± 25°F (871°C ± 4°C); Approximate tempering: 1200ºF (649°C). Minimum holding time for each heat treating operation should be 1 hour at heat for each inch of thickness at the maximum effective cross-section; Stress relief: Unless otherwise specified, material which has been cold straightened after heat-treatment shall be stress relieved at a temperature not lower than 150ºF (65°C) below the final tempering temperature.
