ABS ABS Grade S Heat Treatments
- Tubes are to be either hot finished or cold-drawn. After the completion of mechanical working, tubes are to be solution annealed at a minimum of 1040°C (1900°F) and then quenched in water or rapidly cooled by other means. Solution annealing above 1065°C (1950°F) may impair resistance to intergranular corrosion after subsequent exposure to sensitizing conditions. Subsequent to the initial high temperature solution anneal, a stabilization or resolution anneal at 815°C to 900°C (1500°F to 1650°F) may be used to meet the requirements.
