PROPRIETARY BÖHLER N404 ISOEXTRA Heat Treatments
- Hot forming
1150 to 900°C / Air cooling
Annealing: 600 to 650°C / air or furnace cooling.
Stress relieving: 530 to 570°C In the condition as hardened and tempered appr. 30 - 50°C below the actual tempering temperature. After through heating, hold in neutral atmosphere 1 - 2 hours / slow cooling in furnace.
Hardening:
Bar, forgings
950 to 1050°C / Oil, air
Sheet or plate:
900 to 1000°C / Oil, air, water
Tempering
Bar, forgings:
I.....590 to 620°C /(2 x 4 h or 1 x 8 h)
II....550 to 620°C
Sheet or plate:
570 to 650°C
Structure as soft annealed:
Ferrite + carbide
Structure as hardened and tempered:
Tempered martensite
