PROPRIETARY BÖHLER M200 Heat Treatments
- Normalizing: 850-900°C (1562-1652°F); Slow controlled cooling in furnace at a rate of 10 to 20°C/hr (50 to 68°F/hr) down to approx. 600°C (1112°F), further cooling in air.
Stress relieving: aprox. 600°C (1112°F); In hardened and tempered condition approx. 30-50°C (86-122°F) below the tempering temperature. After through heating, hold at temperature in neutral atmosphere for 1 to 2 hours. Slow cooling in furnance.
Hardening and tempering: 840-860°C (1544-1580°F); 840-860°C (1544-1580°F) / oil 860 to 880°C (1580-1616°F)/ air After through soaking, hold for 15 to 30 minutes. After hardening, tempering to the desired working hardness, see tempering chart.
