PROPRIETARY LESCALLOY 4330+V VAC-ARC Heat Treatments
- Hardened to 45 HRC as follows: 927°C (1700°F) for 0.5 h, air cool
871°C (1600°F) for 0.25 h, oil quench
316°C (600°F) for 2 h
The samples that are tempered at 282°C (540°F) and 316°C (600°F) were austenitized at 871°C (1600°F) for 1 hour and oil quenched prior to tempering
Normalizing: 871 - 927°C (1600 - 1700°F), air cool
Austenitizing: 843 - 871°C (1550 - 1600°F), 15 minutes per 25.4 mm of thickness, oil quench.
Tempering: 260 - 593°C (500 - 1100°F), depending on desired strength. Temper between 260 - 371°C (500 - 700°F) to obtain tensile strengths of 1517 - 1655 MPa.
