PROPRIETARY Micro-Melt T15 Plus Alloy Heat Treatments

  • Annealing: heat slowly to 871/899°C (1600/1650°F), hold until the entire mass is heated through, and cool slowly (do not exceed 11°C [20°F] per hour) in the furnace to about 538°C (1000°F), after which the cooling rate may be increased.
    Hardening: preheat at 816/871°C (1500/1600°F) long enough to ensure a thorough soak. Austenitize at 1149/1232°C (2100/2250°F) for 3-5 minutes, then oil quench. Parts may also be salt quenched to 510°C (950°F), and air cooled.
    Stress Relieving: heat slowly to 621/677°C (1150/1250°F), hold 1 to 2 hours, then cool in still air.
    Tempering: tempering temperature is usually in the range of 510/593°C (950/1100°F).
