PROPRIETARY CarTech 19-9 DL Alloy Heat Treatments
- Annealing: Solution treat bars and forgings to 982-1177°C (1800-2150°F), cool rapidly and follow by an aging or stress relieving operation at 649-760°C (1200-1400°F). Sheet and strip should be annealed in the range of 899-982°C (1650-1800°F).
Stress relieving: Heat to 649-760°C (1200-1400°F), hold at heat for a minimum of 1h, then air cool.
Hot working: Roll or forge from 1093-1149°C (2000-2100°F) and finish work at 649-871°C (1200-1600°F).
Forging: Alloy can be readily hot forged, headed, upset and riveted. These alloys should be forged from a temperature of 1093-1149°C (2000-2100°F), allowing sufficient time for a through soak.
