ISO C55 Heat Treatments
- Hardening: 805-845°C (Temperatures at the lower end of the range are generally used for water, and those at the upper end for oil quenching. Time for austenitizing as a guide: at least 30 min.);
Quenching agent: Oil or water (Other quenching agents such as synthetic quenchants may also be used.);
Tempering: 550-660°C (Time for tempering as a guide: at least 1h.);
Normalizing: 825-865°C. - TC+TA - cold drawn and annealed to maximum hardness requirements. P+TA - peeled and annealed to maximum hardness requirements. G+TA - ground and annealed to maximum hardness requirements. TC+TN - cold drawn and normalized. P+TN - peeled and normalized. G+TN - ground and normalized. TC+TQ+TT - cold drawn and quenched + tempered. P+TQ+TT - peeled and quenched + tempered. G+TQ+TT - ground and quenched + tempered. Hardening: 805-845°C (1/2 hour), water or oil quench; Tempering: 550-660°C (1 hour); Normalizing: 825-865°C.
