ISO 40 CrMoV 4 6 Heat Treatments
- Quenching and tempering (Q+T1): 880-950°C, oil quenching; Tempering: 670-720°C.
Quenching and tempering (Q+T2): 940-970°C, oil quenching; Tempering: 600-700°C.
Q+T1 apply to sizes up to 100 mm, Q+T2 to sizes above 100 up to 200 mm.
If a stress relief treatment is necessary, the stress relief temperature should be at least 30°C lower than the tempering temperature.
The indications of heat treatment for guidance only, except in cases where test samples are to be reference heat treated.
