ASTM A 335 Grade P23 Heat Treatments

  • Normalized in range 1040 - 1080°C (1900 - 1975°F), air or accelerated cooled and tempered in range 730 - 800°C (1350 - 1470°F).
It is recommended that the temperature for tempering should be at least 50°C (100°F) above the intended service temperature; consequently, the purchaser should advise the manufacturer if the service temperature is to be over 600°C (1100°F).
    After weld repair, shall be heat treated at 730 - 800°C (1350 - 1470°F).
