ASTM A 182 F 6b Heat Treatments
- After hot working, forgings shall be cooled to a temperature below 538°C (1000°F) prior to heat treating.
Annealing: austenitizing/solution heat treatment temperature 954°C (1750°F) minimum, furnace cooling.
Normalizing and tempering or quenching and tempering: austenitizing/solution heat treatment temperature 954°C (1750°F), air cooling or accelerated air cooling, quenching cool below 204°C (400°F). Tempering temperature 621°C (1150°F) minimum.
