ASTM A 182 F 6NM Heat Treatments
- After hot working, forgings shall be cooled to a temperature below 538°C (1000°F) prior to heat treating.
Normalizing and tempering or quenching and tempering: austenitizing/solution heat treatment temperature 1010°C (1850°F) minimum, air cooling or accelerated air cooling, quenching cool below 93°C (200°F). Tempering temperature 560 - 604°C (1040 - 1120°F).
