ASTM A 182 F 21 Heat Treatments
- After hot working, forgings shall be cooled to a temperature below 538°C (1000°F) prior to heat treating.
Annealing: austenitizing/solution heat treatment temperature 954°C (1750°F) minimum, furnace cooling.
Normalizing and tempering: austenitizing/solution heat treatment temperature 954°C (1750°F) minimum, air cooling. Tempering temperature 677°C (1250°F) minimum.
