ASTM A 557 Grade A2 Heat Treatments
- Following welding, tubes shall be normalized at 860°C (1600°F) minimum, cooling in air or in the continuous atmosphere controlled furnace.
If cold drawn, tubes shall be heated to a temperature of at least 640°C (1200°F).
If heat treatment of the U-bends is specified, such heat treatment shall consist of heating the stressed portion within a range from 590 to 640°C (1100 to 1200°F).
