AISI M-6 Heat Treatments
- Pre-heat at 732 - 843°C (1350 - 1550°F) then austenitize at either 1188°C (2170°F) in a salt bath or 1199°C (2190°F) in a controlled atmosphere furnace. Oil quench or quench in molten salts and air cool. When a salt quench is employed, its temperature shall be 566 - 635°C (1050 - 1175°F). Temper twice at 552°C (1025°F) for 2 hours each
