AISI 414 Heat Treatments
- Annealed, or hardened and tempered as specified. Liquid quenching shall be permitted only by agreement with the purchaser
Heat treating at 955°C ± 14°C (1750 ± 25°F) and quenching in the oil or polymer (samples for testing shall be in the form of a section not exceeding 9.50 mm in thickness). Polymer selected should have a cooling rate similar to oil to prevent cracking. - After heat treating at 955°C ± 15°C (1750°F ± 25°F) and oil quenching, grade shall be capable of meeting the hardness of 42 HRC minimum (testing section t ≤ 9.50 mm).
