AISI 410 Heat Treatments
- Air quenching at min 955°C ± 14°C (1750 ± 25°F).
- Annealed, or hardened and tempered as specified. Liquid quenching shall be permitted only by agreement with the purchaser
Material shall be air cooled or liquid quenched from 925°C (1700°F), minimum, followed by being held at the tempering temperature for at least 1 h/in. (25.4 mm) of cross section in accordance with:
Condition 1 - 675°C (1250°F) minimum, 760°C (1400°F) maximum.
Condition 2 - 595°C (1100°F) minimum, 760°C (1400°F) maximum.
Condition 3 - 565°C (1050°F) minimum, 760°C (1400°F) maximum.
Heat treating at 955°C ± 14°C (1750 ± 25°F) and quenching in the air (samples for testing shall be in the form of a section not exceeding 9.50 mm in thickness).
