SAE Marage 300 Heat Treatments

  • Annealed in accordance with AMS2761 by heating to a temperature within the range 816 to 927°C (1500 to 1700°F), holding at the selected temperature within ± 14°C (± 25 °F) for a minimum of 1 hour, and cooling to room temperature in air or other atmosphere at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster. Heat treatment of test specimens: maraged by heating to 482 ± 6°C (900 ± 10°F), holding at heat for 4 to 6 hours and cooling to room temperature.
  • Solution heat treated by heating to 816°C +/-14°C in air, holding at heat for a time commensurate with the thickness and the heating procedure used, and cooling in air. After solution heat treatment marage by heating to 482°C +/-6°C, holding at heat for 3-5 hours and cooling in air.
