SAE 6406 Heat Treatments
- Annealing: The product shall be annealed by heating to 735°C +/-14°C, holding at heat for not less than 40 hours and cooling in air to room temperature. Hardening and Tempering (H + T): Heating to 940°C +/-14°C, holding at heat for not less than 15 minutes, cooled as required and tempered at 315-399°C for not less than 30 minutes.
